Being able to follow sequences is important for a child’s brain development as it allows them to recognize patterns that make the world more understandable. Additionally, recognizing patterns is a conceptual Math skill. When developing patterning skills the child is able to identify repeating shapes and colours, identify similarities and differences, identify relationships to one shape or colour to the others. Being able to sequence is an important executive function. It is a foundation skill that children must develop before they can move on to more complex functions.

This particular toy also develops fine motor skills as they thread the bead onto the sticks or cord.

The toy consists of a box of beads, sticks, cords and wooden guides showing different sequences that mix shapes and colours that work to teach recognition of colours and geometric figures as well as develop fine motor skills and early sequencing through pattern recognition.
